Lord Shiva is also known by the name of Rudra, hence, his Abhishek is called Rudrabhishek. According to the ancient scriptures, stream of water is very much liked by lord. People performing Rudrabhishek always have the blessing of lord Shiva.
On Shivratri, the Maha Rudra Abhishek is performed to gain the blessing of Lord Shiva. The puja is said to worship Lord Shiva in his "rudra" form, or "benevolent" form. It is said that the Maha Rudra Abhishek is hailed by all Vedic scriptures as one of the greatest pujas to perform in order to remove all evil and attain prosperity. Believers say that when you pray to Lord Shiva every negative form of energy that surrounds you is transformed into peace and joy. Lord Shiva grants devotees wishes and give them mukthi(salvation).

Pachamrut Abhishek is a good way of pleasing Lord Bhole Nath.Abhishekam is the process of bathing the deity amidst continuous chanting of mantras by learned priests The Shiva ling is first bathed in water then with milk, curd and honey. After that ghee, sugar, coconut water, sandal paste, fruit juice are offered to Lord Shiva. Dhatura and Bilva leaves are also offered.Beautiful flowers are also placed around the Shiv Linga
